I would not recommend this hotel. There were some issues with the room, bug bites for which I had to seek medical care. I notified the hotel and the owner never contacted me. I then contacted the corporate office who stated they could do nothing but apologize for my unfortunate experience to which the hotel had acknowledged that it was a bad experience. I did not ask for reimbursement for the medical expenses, only for other expenses incurred, to which they still have not even contacted me. While this is not the typical Hampton experience, my experience at this particular Hampton was inexcusable with the customer service the worst I've ever seen by an owner (the front office staff were very nice). I'm also disappointed with the corporate office for failing to hold employees accountable for their actions or lack thereof in this instance.
I stayed at the Hampton in Sumter for the 2017 eclipse. Staff was kind and accommodating, breakfast was good and well stocked despite the full house. Overall, it was a decent enough stay, I'd even say impressed considering the number of tourists in the area for the event. That being said, I'm giving two stars due to the condition of the carpet in the room. It was so gross. I had to keep shoes on just to walk across the room, and I couldn't let my baby crawl around because it was so nasty. Replace the carpet already, that was totally unacceptable!
I was in town for a business conference & the stay here was wonderful! Shout out to the wonderful, smiling & friendly staff members at the front desk! There's sumthg about seeing friendly ppl that smile to make your whole day seem worth while!
Such a lovely hotel. Friendly, welcoming, professional and attentive staff, comfy rooms. Good breakfast, excellent coffee. Good location, easy to find. Have stayed in a lot of hotels but don't remember ever thinking that even the guests are fun and welcoming. It's more like staying at a friend's house. A friend with a kabillion en suite bedrooms.

Sumter is not the most happening place, but if you need to stay in a hotel near everything then you found it. This hotel is clean, customer service outstanding, and great breakfast. You will not be disappointed in staying here.
Only problem... The bathroom doesn't have a ventilation system in the place to control the steamy showers!
